Limescale in a water cyliner

SAVE ENERGY THE EASY WAY

If perchance you live in a hard water area which many of us do, you will probably not realise that limescale builds up day by day throughout the plumbing system.

One area, which is really prone to limescale, is the boiler or hot water cylinder. As soon as hard water gets warm, the scale starts forming getting thicker and thicker so that in a fairly short period of time it takes almost twice as much energy to heat up the same amount of water. The scale keeps getting even thicker and eventually it just takes ages to heat the water. The amount of energy required to heat the same amount of water increases exponentially so the thicker the scale the more energy is required. In the end the scale can be so thick that if you turn on the immersion heater it will just blow because the heat it generates cannot escape into the water. The immersion heater just overheats and packs up.

In real terms this can mean more oil, gas or electricity to heat the same amount of water and of course more money. Money, which in reality is just being wasted.

So IF you can remove the limescale and PREVENT fresh limescale being deposited your water heating becomes much more efficient. It is really surprising that organisations like the Energy Saving Trust and Carbon Trust and all the other so called “green” organisations don’t latch on to this and plug products that do prevent and remove the dreaded limescale.

A very good product that will get rid of limescale and prevent new scale is produced by an English Company and is called Splendid Products Limited. They make (in Oxford) the Little Plumber range, which have been available for 10 years and are so successful that in those 10 years only one has ever been returned. Add to this the 12-month no quibble guarantee and the fact that if you fit one you’ll probably be saving the cost of the unit in the money you save and it’s really a “no brainer”!

Heating Costs

Bookmark and Share I was watching the news today and saw that a married couple who were pensioners and lived exclusively on their State Pension were paying nearly a third of their income on fuel during the
recent cold snap. I wondered how much energy they were waisting by heating up layers of limescale and how much lower their fuel bills might have been had they installed a Little Plumber. It's what you CAN'T SEE in your plumbing that's the real problem not the scale around the taps or shower heads or in the kettle. The heat exchangers in the hot water cylinder or boiler will have a thick layer of furry limescale in hard water areas and you can see the amount of energy wasted by looking at the graph on our site http://www.littleplumber.com/hardwaterinfo.html
So, spread the word. Fit a Little Plumber and your fuel bills will come down IF you have hard water. It's a fact!

November warmth !

Bookmark and Share It's November 3rd and it has been cold. I just wonder how many boilers are firing up for the first time to put the central heating on. Plenty I expect. But how costly it will prove for some folk since not only have oil prices gone up since last year but many will unwittingly be trying to heat their water through a very thick layer of limescale !!!

The thicker the scale on the heat exchangers the more energy (OIL GAS OR ELECTRICITY) will be used.

Why would anyone in a hard water area NOT install a Little Plumber because not only will it prevent new scale but it also removes the existing scale, improving heating efficiency by so much that I have known people who have had to turn down their thermostats!

I keep being asked by customers if they have to install their LP units on the rising main. NO they can fit the unit anywhere as the conditioning effect travels upstream and downstream.

descalers and water conditioners

Bookmark and Share
Well it's been over 10 years since I started making and selling the Little Plumber water conditioner and I now have literally thousands of happy customers. Why would anyone want to buy a water softener when you can have one of these babies for under £90.00. No maintenance and so easy to fit a blind fool could do it.
Do they work? Well if they don't we give a no quibble 12 month money back guarantee so you've got a long time to be sure it's doing the job. I claim we have never had one back but in fact we have just had our first one returned...the guy got his money back instantly....It seems the microchip wasn't working but one in 10 years isn't bad.
Limescale is caused by Calcium Carbonate in hard water coming our of solution and turning back to chalk inside your plumbing. It's what you can't see that does the damage. A layer of scale round your heat exchangers is like having a good overcoat. It actually stops the heat transferring from the heating elements to the water so the cost of heating goes up and up. Immersion heater just can't take it and just blow up. Even your boiler will pack up eventually and the scale in showers and dishwashers etc just adds to the cost of it all.
Who really likes these products. Well we have plumbers and kitchen/bathroom fitters who have been using them for years and really love them. Who hates them...the water softening boys who would prefer to sell you a big softener and then tons of salt.
